    The "Open Forum"

Our "Open Forum" gives every member and friend of our congregation an active voice, and the opportunity of full participation in the affairs and direction of our congregation. "The Forum", as it is affectionately known, has quickly become a resounding success for providing a "forum" for the free and open discussion of the views, cares, concerns, thoughts and ideas of the members and friends of our congregation.

a good place to be
It is also a wonderful way to get to know each other much better and to establish stronger bonds among the people of our congregation. Everyone - members, friends and visitors alike - are most cordially invited to participate, and to voice and discuss their views, thoughts, concerns, or any ideas they would like to bring before our congregation. Or just come for the sheer fun of it.

Unless preempted by the infrequent occasions when congregational business needs to be brought before the congregation, the "Forum" meets every Sunday, after the Sunday service, and our tea or coffee break, from 11:15 am to 12:15 in room #5.

If no one has suggested a topic, we have found that a discussion of the day's sermon has been a very popular and lively topic.

"Terms of Engagement"

In order that everyone who wishes to be heard may be heard, please observe these "terms of engagement". And I am most pleased to say that, for the most part by far, our "Forum" has fallen naturally into this respectful and enjoyable routine.

  • State your views as briefly and concisely as possible, and within a time frame of about three minutes - so there will be ample time everyone's views to be heard as well.

  • Let everyone speak without interruption - just as you would like to speak without interruption.

  • Respect the opinions of others - just as your opinions deserve full respect.

  • Take your turn in the order as attendees have asked for their turn - so that everyone can have their turn.

  • So, come and be heard, or just to chat, have fun, and bask in the warm and loving glow of our little congregation.

Where there is no Freedom, you can bring the Freedom
Where there is no Dignity, you can bring the Dignity
Where there is no Trust, you can bring the Trust
    Where there is no Warmth
no Closeness between Person and Person
you can bring the Closeness and the Warmth
    But most of all
Where there is no Love, you can bring the Love

You can be the Beginning of the Future
