May 27th
Michelle Poirier
“The Idea of God: is Plato's God an option for Unitarians?”

While many Unitarians have embraced atheism, we nonetheless affirm seven principles that reflect an organizing idea, or impetus. Might the religious ideas in play at the birth of democracy still make sense to people for whom democracy is essential to their experience of religion today?

June 3rd
Rev. Melora Lynngood
“The Challenge of Forgiveness”
We human beings are fallible. The maintenance of human relationships requires a way for repair and renewal when mistakes are made. How does forgiveness work? What does it require? Is it always possible? Is it always a worthy goal?
Rev. Melora Lynngood is a co-minister of our sister congregation in Victoria, First Unitarian Church of Victoria.  She grew up in California, got her MDiv at Harvard Divinity School, and has served UU congregations in Newport, Rhode Island and Sacramento, California.  She and her partner, Rev. Shana Lynngood, have a 6 year old daughter and a baby due in August.
