Synchronicity
There is a wonderful synchronicity happening with this little Unitarian "Umbrella" web site. Used to be, and for the longest time - when our Capital UU web site was the one and only 'member' - that we had about 3 visitors per day on average, tops. And when the Kelowna and Duncan Unitarian Fellowships joined, I expected a maximum of about 9 visitors per day to the "Umbrella" site - at best, since Kelowna and Duncan are smaller centres than Victoria.
And, oh boy, as people say (or should that be 'oh person'?), I could not have been more wrong. This little Umbrella site now averages a staggering 47 visitors per day :-)
I do not know how this comes about; how 3 x 3 comes, all of a sudden, to 47. But there it is - a wonder and an astonishment. Scientists though, would say that it is another clear case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts - like ... like, ah .... people, for instance.
That was in October 2002. Since then the number of visitors to our umbrella site has increased steadily and dramatically - with time off for holidays, summer, and stuff like that. Here are the actual figures:

It couldn't be that people, once they have come to the web site of the congregation of their choice, look up the other two congregations as well, just out of curiosity. This would not be counted as another or a new visit - since such visitors are staying on the same basic web site.
And it could not be the incredibly high exposure this little Unitarian Universalist Umbrella has in all the search engines. All three congregations come in FIRST place on the FIRST search results page of "Google", "Yahoo", "AOL", "MSN", "All The Web", "Alta Vista" - on all of the best, the biggest and the most popular search engines - under the query "Unitarian Congregation (or Fellowship) Victoria (or Duncan, or Kelowna, as the case may be) BC". We've had the same fantastic high exposure before the Kelowna and Duncan Fellowships joined this Umbrella site, but we only got 3 a day, as I said.
Anyway, and whatever the cause of this wonderful synchronicity may be, this BC Unitarian Universalist Umbrella web site also provides a very neat and natural way for BC congregations and to stay in touch with each other. How 'bout a general "bulletin" page then where our BC Unitarian congregations can post items of interest to all BC congregations? Let me know and we'll do one.
