Overview

Captain Power Smart and the Lightning Bugs light our way
during our 2011 energy conservation challenge.

If you are passionate about working for social justice and the environment, you will find like-minded people in our fellowship who are committed to action.  In addition to overseeing our long-term projects, the Environmental and Social Action Committee selects a couple of short-term projects each year.  And on the fifth Sundays of the month, we offer an environmental and social action presentation at Valleyview Hall at 10 am.

Environmental and Social Awareness and Action are interwoven into the fabric of Unitarian Universalism life.  Our mission statement says that we care for each other and the world at large.   Believing in the inherent worth of each person, our mutual interdependency and the need to help create a world in which each person has the opportunity to flourish, Unitarian Universalism is deeply rooted in social justice as a direct expression of our faith.

Environmental and Social Action is:

•    improving the circumstances of the less fortunate
•    raising awareness of societal issues in the community
•    fostering a deep respect for the environment
•    teaching our children the importance of helping others
•    teaching the congregation of the importance of getting involved
